Job summary

Bay View Childcare is recruiting a confident, caring Residential Home Team Leader in Heysham to support up to four children aged 8–18 with social, emotional and behavioural needs. You’ll lead a home, promote safeguarding, and help shape a safe, nurturing environment.

You will supervise day-to-day operations, develop care plans, and work to maintain Good/Outstanding Ofsted standards. The role includes sleep-ins and a 40-hour week, with fantastic progression and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in children’s residential care or similar setting and ability to support children with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Caring, resilient and child-centred approach with the ability to build positive relationships and set clear boundaries.
• Ability to lead by example, motivate others and foster a positive team culture.
• Good understanding of safeguarding, boundaries, recording, care planning and high standards.

Responsibilities

• Create, review and maintain high-quality care plans meeting legislation, Ofsted standards and Bay View policies.
• Build trusting relationships with children and support their development and wellbeing.
• Lead by example to create a safe, inclusive home with high standards and consistent boundaries.
• Record and share information clearly with children, families and professionals.
• Support day-to-day running of the home and deputise for the Registered Manager when required.
• Help manage rotas, sleep-ins, on-call arrangements and household planning.
• Participate in team meetings and foster continuous improvement.
• Support safe staffing levels and staff supervisions.

Salary: Base salary of £28,915.33 per annum, with the potential to earn up to £35,635.33 per annum with sleep-in shifts

Bay View Childcare is looking for a confident, caring and motivated Residential Home Team Leader to join our family-style home in Heysham, supporting up to four children aged 8–18 with social, emotional and behavioural needs.

This is more than a supervisory role. You will help shape a safe, nurturing and positive home environment, lead by example, support the day-to-day running of the service, and play a key part in maintaining Good and Outstanding Ofsted standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience working in children’s residential care or a similar setting, with the confidence to support children with social, emotional and behavioural needs
• A caring, resilient and child-centred approach, with the ability to build positive relationships and set clear, consistent boundaries
• The ability to lead by example, motivate others and contribute to a positive team culture
• A good understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries, recording, care planning and the importance of working to high standards
• A Level 3 Diploma in Working with Children and Young People, or an equivalent relevant qualification
• A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to work as part of a residential rota, including sleep-in shifts when required

What You’ll Be Doing

• Creating, reviewing and maintaining high-quality care plans that meet legislation, Ofsted standards and Bay View policies
• Building trusting, positive relationships with children and helping them take part in activities that support their development and wellbeing
• Leading by example to create a safe, inclusive home where positive behaviour, clear boundaries and high standards are consistently promoted
• Recording and sharing key information clearly with children, families, professionals and the Registered Manager
• Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the home and deputising for the Registered Manager when required
• Helping manage rotas, budgets, sleep-ins, on-call arrangements and household planning
• Contributing to team meetings, encouraging open communication and supporting a culture of continuous improvement
• Supporting safe staffing levels, managing absences and carrying out staff supervisions
• Keeping your knowledge and practice up to date through training, reflection and professional development
• Acting quickly and appropriately if concerns arise, escalating matters when needed to safeguard children and maintain high standards
