Job summary

Compassionate Children's Care in Blackburn seeks an experienced Social Worker to join its Family Assessment Centre. The role focuses on assessing families and informing life-changing decisions for children, while upholding dignity and autonomy in a compassionate, person-centred environment.

The post offers a chance to develop within an Ofsted-regulated setting, supporting complex children and families from day one, with dedicated training and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience working with complex and challenging children.
• Experience with young people with emotional and behavioural issues and complex needs.
• Nurturing and supportive, enabling positive outcomes.
• Experience working with behaviours that challenge people.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, supportive home environment for children and young people.
• Oversee day-to-day running of the home in the absence of the First Line Manager.
• Lead by example, modelling positive behaviours and values for staff and residents.
• Respect privacy and advocate for children’s rights.
• Lead and review care plans and risk assessments to meet changing needs.
• Provide supervision and direction to the staff team as part of the care team.
• Develop meaningful relationships with children, families, and the MDT.

Team Leader Role Summary

To provide oversight of Support workers within the home, whilst working within a team providing care and support to complex children and young people, ensuring their safety and development of positive outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe haven where laughter is the language, and hugs are the currency.
• Oversee the operational running of the home and the team in the absence of the First Line Manager
• Role model positive behaviours and values, leading by example and inspiring our young people and the staff team.
• Respect our children’s privacy and fight for their rights.
• Lead and evaluate the effectiveness of children’s care plans and risk assessments, constantly striving to meet changing children’s needs
• Support the management team in providing high-quality and person-centred supervision and direction to the staff team
• Form meaningful relationships with children, their families, and the wider MDT team.

Our Ideal Candidate

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with complex and challenging children.
• Experience of working with young people with emotional and behavioural issues and complex needs including challenging behaviours.
• A nurturing and supportive individual who provides children with high levels of care and support, enabling them to achieve positive outcomes.
• Experience of working with children with behaviours that challenge people.
• Great organisational skills, being creative and able to think outside the box.
• Effective communication skills, excellent listening skills, and a willingness to learn.
• Understanding of attachment and trauma in relation to children.
• Resilience when faced with difficult challenges.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work flexibly and creatively to overcome challenges.
• Calm under pressure with the ability to think clearly and follow set procedures.
• Willingness to be flexible and work as part of a rota including sleep ins.
• Must be over 25 years old
• Must be a driver and have a clean driving license with no fault claims
