Job summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting Band 5 Children’s Staff Nurses to join our dedicated team in the Children’s Hospital. You will receive structured development through the Practice Development Team and ward-based clinical educators, with mentoring from Ward Sisters and Matrons to maximise your potential.

We encourage ongoing professional and academic development and welcome highly motivated, compassionate children’s nurses to contribute to delivering specialist care

Qualifications

• Conduct thorough nursing assessments and develop individualised care plans.
• Monitor patient conditions and respond to changes, escalating concerns appropriately.
• Deliver holistic nursing care including wound management and rehabilitation support.
• Administer medications safely and accurately, including IV medications.
• Support patients with mobility, personal care and rehabilitation exercises.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with doctors, therapists and other professionals to coordinate care.
• Participate in ward rounds, case discussions and care planning meetings.
• Provide information and education about procedures, recovery and self‑care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and care documentation.
• Engage in audits, quality improvement and safeguarding procedures.
• Support the development of junior staff and student nurses.
