A community healthcare provider in the UK is seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to support children with speech and language needs. This role involves assessing and diagnosing children, designing care plans, and working collaboratively with families and educational staff. Applicants should have a recognized Speech and Language degree, and experience with children is preferred. This is a permanent position with competitive employee benefits.
To work as part of a locality team to support children, families and settings in a designated geographical area. We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist who wishes to develop skills in working with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) in clinics, nursery/school settings and home environments.
The Speech and Language Therapy Service supports children with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and eating and drinking needs, across Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County. The service provides a range of packages of care for children with speech and language difficulties, developmental language disorder, Autism, learning difficulties, physical difficulties, eating and drinking difficulties, voice disorders, hearing impairment and disorders of fluency. The service aims to provide support to children in the most appropriate setting e.g. health, education, home.
We are a large department relative to other departments across the country. This means that there are frequent opportunities to develop skills, and we have therapists who are able to specialise in clinical areas and share their knowledge/support less experienced therapists. We work in teams with a shared caseload. We actively support new staff to build up their confidence in managing cases, allowing the gradual build up of skills and experience over time. This includes shadowing and CPD opportunities, and time to discuss cases whilst you develop your skills.

To assess, diagnose, design and deliver appropriate packages of care for children with a wide range of SLCN (e.g. speech and language difficulties, developmental language disorder, stammering, Autism).
Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced). This cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.
You will become part of the Specialist Services and Children and Young People Unit of Management and be welcomed by an extremely supportive and efficient team who display high levels of quality and compassion to the services and care they provide. You will receive a local induction tailored to your needs and have an informal discussion with a Manager of the service to understand how your values align with ours. You will receive regular clinical and managerial supervisions and an appraisal within 4 months of commencing to support your development.
