Social Worker - Permanence

Annual Salary: £36,648 - £39,186 with a £2,000 retention paymentLocation: OldhamJob Type: Full-time, with hybrid working options

We are seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join our Permanence team, focusing on ensuring the long-term stability and well-being of children who cannot be looked after by their parents. This role requires a professional who is adept at making robust decisions about the future of children in care, considering various permanence options, and providing support and stability through well-developed care plans.

Day to Day of the role:Review case notes, liaise for additional information, and evaluate support for newly qualified social workers.Undertake assessments of support needs and develop Care & Support Plans for Service Users, Carers, and Families.Produce, deliver, evaluate, and update Care & Support Plans to resolve social care, health, and well-being difficulties.Work with Service Users, Carers, and Families to make informed choices and decisions.Proactively handle Safeguarding issues and follow relevant policies and procedures.Identify, assess, and manage risks, and respond to crisis situations with appropriate legal intervention.Maintain high data quality on social care systems and ensure confidentiality of personal information.Prepare for and participate in meetings and decision-making forums, advocating on behalf of Service Users, Carers, and Families.Develop and maintain working relationships with partnership agencies, including health and voluntary sector agencies.Embrace changes and advances in working practices, particularly those incorporating ICT.Participate in formal and reflective supervision sessions and professional development activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:Social Work degree or equivalent recognised Social Work Qualification, e.g., DipSW.Registration with HCPC.Post Qualifying Award approved by the HCPC in an appropriate discipline, e.g., ASYE or newly qualified programme.Experience in accurate assessments and producing Care & Support Plans.Ability to prioritise workload, set objectives, and maintain accurate case records.Experience in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver social work services.Skills in negotiation, interpersonal communication, and IT proficiency.In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice, and equalities and diversity issues.Willingness to undertake additional qualifications and travel independently across the Borough of Oldham.Ability to work unsocial hours when necessary.
