Team Description

The Children with Disabilities Team manages cases where disability is the overriding factor to consider regarding outcomes and impact for the child. Our functions include assessing and offering appropriate short break services to children with diagnosed disabilities and/or complex health needs and their families. Some disabled children also require safeguarding, and in these cases, we manage children in the child protection process, including Child Protection Conferences, Public Law Outline, and Proceedings.

What else does the team offer

Many children under our team are Cared for Children, either on Full Care Orders or section 20 agreements. These children are managed under Care Planning and Fostering Regulations with oversight from an Independent Reviewing Officer.

How does the team work

The Children with Disabilities Team operates within the Early Help and Schools Department, working alongside colleagues in SEN, RAN, Educational Psychology, and HI and VI Teams.
