We are keen to recruit agency social workers with experience of statutory social work with children and families. Contracts can be offered initially for up to 6 months to provide stability and security.
We aim to be responsive to our agency workers’ needs. Our model from referral to permanence or closure allows us to cater caseloads to our agency workers’ interests. Typically, we offer caseloads involving Child Protection and Child in Need, but we can discuss allocating court cases or cared-for children if it suits our agency staff.
Our teams are based in Stockport town hall district, co-located with health, police, Early Help, and MASSH colleagues. We currently have vacancies across the borough. The average caseload is 20, with regular reviews to ensure manageability.
We provide a comprehensive induction, gradually increasing caseload and complexity. Reflective supervision is offered monthly, with team leaders trained in systemic supervision. Additional opportunities include group supervision, specialist advice from our Aspire service on domestic abuse and safeguarding, and consultation support.
Each team comprises 1 team leader, 2 senior practitioners, and 6 social workers, focusing on small geographical areas. They maintain links with local schools, health professionals, and borough-wide services through our Team around the School model. Our team leaders and senior practitioners are well-established and have strong relationships within Stockport.
We recognize the importance of flexible working patterns. Our social workers value team time and the option to work from home, supported by modern technology. We are open to discussing flexible or reduced hours to meet individual needs.
Please note this is a Long Term Temporary post to start ASAP.
