Children’s Social Worker – CWD

Team: Children with Disabilities

Office Base: The Portal, Ellesmere Port

We are looking for an experienced social worker to join the Children’s with Disabilities Team. The team provides a statutory social work service to our most vulnerable disabled young people across the Cheshire West borough.

Job Purpose

Within the framework of legislation, council policies, and procedures, work with or on behalf of children, young people, and their families to improve their well-being and promote their independence.

Principal Responsibilities

1. Assess the needs of children and young people requiring social work services, including risk identification and protection needs. Develop, coordinate, and deliver multi-agency plans to meet assessed needs, reviewing these plans regularly.
2. Identify unmet needs and service gaps to inform resource allocation and service development.
3. Engage other professionals, statutory, and voluntary agencies in delivering services following assessments.
4. Manage an allocated workload within a team setting.
5. Comply with statutory obligations and departmental policies and procedures.
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on the Integrated Children’s System (ICS).
7. Participate in supervision sessions, staff meetings, and training opportunities.
8. Contribute to service evaluation and development by sharing knowledge and best practices.
9. Provide support to less experienced social workers to foster their development.
