Children’s Social Worker – Family Support Team
Vale of Glamorgan Council

Location: Vale of Glamorgan
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Children’s Social Worker to join our Family Support Team in the Vale of Glamorgan. Our team works with children and families on a mixed caseload, including Child Protection, Care and Support, and Care Proceedings. With significant investment in our Family Support Teams, we are expanding to increase capacity, build resilience, and provide stability for both our workers and the families we support. Responsibilities
  • Manage a varied caseload, supporting children on the Child Protection Register, children in Care Proceedings, and those requiring Care and Support.
  • Work directly with children, young people, and families to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are met.
  • Develop and implement care plans, ensuring the best possible outcomes for children.
  • Engage in multi-agency collaboration with partners such as health, education, and the voluntary sector.
  • Attend court proceedings, prepare reports, and provide professional recommendations.
  • Contribute to our Building on Strengths approach, which puts relationships and strengths-based practice at the heart of everything we do.
Requirements
  • A Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Care Wales.
  • Experience in children’s social work, particularly in child protection and family support.
  • A strong understanding of relevant legislation and safeguarding practices.
  • The ability to build meaningful relationships with children, families, and multi-agency partners.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with a commitment to delivering high-quality services.
