Job description

Brackenberry is working in partnership with Cardiff Council Childrens Services, recruiting experienced Qualified Social Workers (3+ years PQ) to join their CASP, Child Protection, PLO, and Court teams. Cardiff is one of the UKs most exciting cities and their Childrens Services team reflects that energy: dynamic, supportive, and deeply committed to improving outcomes for families and children across the capital.

Rate Of Pay: £38.15 per hour

Available Teams

  • Intake Team managing new referrals, assessments, and short-term interventions
  • Locality (Long-Term) Teams working with families under CP, PLO, and Court proceedings
  • Child Protection / PLO / Court managing complex safeguarding cases, ensuring child safety and permanence planning

What Youll Be Doing

  • Hold and manage complex caseloads across Child Protection, PLO, and Court proceedings
  • Work in line with the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014, focusing on prevention and partnership
  • Apply the Wales Safeguarding Procedures, ensuring all childrens welfare is a shared priority
  • Engage with children, families, and multi-agency professionals to deliver robust, child-centred interventions
  • Contribute to Court reports, risk assessments, and care planning, while maintaining accurate case records
  • Receive regular monthly supervision, access to training, and support from experienced PSWs and managers

What Were Looking For

  • Minimum 3 years post-qualified experience in childrens services
  • Experience working within Child Protection, PLO, Court, or Long-Term Locality Teams
  • Strong working knowledge of Welsh legislation and safeguarding procedures
  • Committed to improving outcomes for children and building relationships with families
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and analytical skills
  • Registered with Social Care Wales
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential
