Job description

East Anglia Children's Hospices have an opportunity for a registered children's, adult or learning disabilities nurse to join our multidisciplined team at The Treehouse Hospice, Ipswich, to further their experience or develop skills working in children's palliative care. Full-time or part-time considered.

The successful applicant will deliver holistic nursing care and support to babies, children and young people with palliative and end of life care needs and their families. Lead and co-ordinate shifts and undertake day-to-day operational duties as required. You will be required to provide care in the hospice, in families' homes and occasionally across our other hospice localities; therefore, a full UK driving license and access to own vehicle is essential to this role.

Shift Pattern: Our service is provided in a 24/7, 365 day environment; shifts include weekend & bank holidays.

Our standard shift structure is 12 1/2 hour shifts (includes unpaid break):

  • Day shift - 7:30am-8:00pm
  • Night shift - 7:30pm-8:00am
  • Homecare shift - in the community (hours vary)
  • +30% Saturdays & Evenings
  • +60% Sundays & Bank Holidays
  • Competitive on-call rates
Main duties of the job
  • Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
  • Demonstrable experience of caring for babies, children or young people in an acute, community, palliative or complex needs setting.
  • Knowledge of current legislation relating to babies, children and young people, including best practice in safeguarding children.
  • Knowledge and understanding of children's palliative care and recent initiatives in children's health and social care.
  • Mentor qualification or willingness to work towards it.
  • Evidence of commitment to own continuing professional development.
