A leading healthcare provider in London is seeking an Occupational Therapist for children aged 0-18. You will provide assessments and interventions while working autonomously within a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills and experience with paediatric care. This role operates under an evidence-based framework and involves delivering training programmes to carers and school staff.
To provide a high standard Occupational Therapy service to children aged 0-18 years referred to Enfield’s Children’s Occupational Therapy Department.
To contribute to planning, co-ordinating, delivering, and evaluating the Children’s Occupational Therapy Service.
To contribute to service improvements and quality initiatives within the team.
To be responsible for a defined caseload of children within the community and special schools, working autonomously with access to supervision. Advice and support from colleagues is available as required.
To provide family-centred, occupationally focused assessment and intervention to disabled children and children with additional needs.
To work within available evidence-based and good practice guidelines.
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner. To assist in the supervision and training of students and junior staff as required.
Band 5 development to Band 6 will be considered.
To provide assessment and interventions for children with OT needs, offering expert advice, guidance, and information to families, carers, schools, and other professionals.
To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of children, organising this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and time management. To assist more junior staff in this.
To participate in multidisciplinary assessment and intervention.
To select and apply appropriate Occupational Therapy assessments for children, addressing occupational performance and enabling the child in areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure.
To set occupationally focused intervention goals with children and/or their parents/carers that are family-centred and mutually agreed.
To work within an occupational frame of reference.
To demonstrate the ability to analyse the interplay of the child, environment, and activity when assessing the child's level of functioning and identifying strategies to facilitate participation in self-care, school, and play/leisure.
To demonstrate specialist knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options, using current research and clinical reasoning skills.
To plan and implement individual and group interventions in collaboration with the child and carer.

The hospital also provides cancer diagnosis and treatment, and a dedicated 0-19 service for children and young people in Enfield, supporting health and wellbeing from birth through adolescence.
To use excellent communication skills when working with children, young people, and their families to ensure their voices are heard and reflected in goal setting and intervention.
To use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools, including for individuals with communication difficulties, hearing or visual impairments, dysphasia, or those whose first language is not English.
To demonstrate effective communication with multidisciplinary team members and partner organisations (e.g., Education and Social Services), contributing to decisions regarding client care.
To deliver training programmes to carers and school staff in line with care pathways.
To promote awareness of the role of OT.
To use interpreters as appropriate.
