Job Description:

At Leader Education, we are recruiting for a Children's Mental Health Learning Support Assistant to support a primary aged child 1:1 with Autism and other learning difficulties within a school setting that cater for children aged 2-19 years old.

The successful Children's Mental Health Learning Support Assistant will have had previous experience working with young people who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), as well as a genuine interest and passion to helping children reach their full potential.

This is a great opportunity to develop a deeper understanding about working with children who have moderate and severe learning disabilities. This role is suitable for candidates who drive. Qualifications are desirable and transferable skills are essential to this role.

The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30 until 16:30 on a long-term basis.

The successful Candidate will:

  • Candidates will need an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check or the willingness to obtain one
  • Provide one-on-one support to students with EHCP's
  • Monitor and manage student's behaviour and wellbeing
  • Support the development of social and emotional skills
  • Be prepared to assist with personal care if needed
  • Prepare and adapt learning materials to meet the needs of students
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting young people with diverse needs
