Job description

We value diverse perspectives and experiences and are striving to create a workplace culture that is inclusive, accepting of all, and free from discrimination and bias.

Coventry Residential Children's Services currently have several well-established children's homes within the city. Our family-style homes offer individualised care for children aged 10 to 18 years, who have a diverse range of needs and may have been impacted by childhood trauma.

We also have a forward-thinking strategy with a clear vision to expand our provision. Due to this, we are currently in the process of opening new homes. Join us and be part of our incredible journey.

Our Values

In line with our One Coventry Values, we want to ensure our communities are represented across our workforce. A vital part of this is ensuring we are a truly inclusive organisation that encourages diversity in all respects, including diversity of thinking. We particularly welcome applicants from minority ethnic, LGBT+, disabled, and neurodiverse communities to make a real difference to our residents, so that equity and respect remain at the heart of everything we do.

Our Values are:

  • Open and fair: We are fair, open, and transparent.
  • Nurture and develop: We help and encourage everyone to be their best and do their best.
  • Engage and empower: We talk and listen to others, working together as one.
  • Create and innovate: We embrace new ways of working to continuously improve.
  • Own and be accountable: We work together to deliver the best services for our residents.
  • Value and respect: We put diversity and inclusion at the heart of all we do.
What is the job role?

Are you a resilient and experienced manager capable of leading a team to provide high-quality residential care for children in need?

Do you have a good working knowledge of legislation, regulations, and best practices in children's services?

Would you like to join a dynamic and expanding service supporting vulnerable children and their families in Coventry?

If yes, you might be the ideal candidate for the Manager of our Complex Needs or Short Breaks service.

As a manager, you will:

  • Support your staff team with training, supervision, and professional development
  • Recruit and select new employees and assess their performance
  • Understand the needs of children, including those with disabilities and complex needs
  • Ensure the voice of the child is heard and respected in service delivery
  • Adhere to and implement relevant policies, procedures, and legislation
  • Participate in the development and improvement of the service
  • Undertake relevant training and qualifications as required

This post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and appointment will be conditional upon a satisfactory DBS check.

Who are we looking for?

Successful candidates will work closely with Operational Leads to build effective teams and achieve positive outcomes for children, including those with complex needs and disabilities.

You will need initiative and a drive for improvement, meeting requirements of the Children Homes Regulations 2015 and best practice standards within SCCIF.

You should have a solid understanding of diversity and inclusion principles in workplace culture and service delivery.

We welcome applications from established managers and deputy managers who have:

(a) Worked for at least 2 years in a relevant residential care role within the last 5 years

(b) Managed staff in a care setting for at least one year
