Dove Adolescent Services is seeking a Children’s Home Dual Registered Manager to join our services in Barnsley overseeing a one- and a two-bedroom home with a small team already assigned. The role involves day-to-day management to deliver high-quality care, promoting the rights of young people as individuals and providing care in accordance with our policies and procedures. You will lead a team of care workers in line with relevant legislation and guidance to achieve good outcomes for young people across physical, psychological, emotional and social development.

We are currently seeking a Children’s Home Dual Registered Manager to join our services in Barnsley looking after not just one… but two of our amazing homes. You will oversee a one- and a two-bedroom home, with a small team already assigned.
Responsibilities
- You will develop and deliver high-quality care in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations, including Ofsted SCIFF and the organisation’s policy and procedures, incorporating safeguarding responsibilities and promoting equal opportunities.
- Lead and manage staff to ensure good outcomes for young people, ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures and child protection protocols.
- Adhere to Health & Safety legislation; ensure staff have adequate knowledge and training.
- Maintain appropriate records for young people and employees; implement monitoring and evaluation systems.
- Provide management information, including collection and return of statistical information as required.
- Develop and promote innovative approaches to childcare within the home and participate in the senior team.
- Attend, prepare for and chair meetings internally and externally; on a rota basis, take on-call responsibilities and cover sleep-in shifts when required.
- Contribute to the organisation’s ethos, values and aims; oversee written communications and ensure standards are sustained.
- Make appropriate decisions; oversee admissions and discharges to the home.
- Lead change and align with the organisational ethos; write concise evaluative reports as needed.
- Benefits and payments: 25 days per annum plus 8 statutory holidays; Full Occupancy Bonus (£300 per month); On Call payments (£25 weekdays, £35 weekends); Petrol allowance (proof of business insurance); Pension in line with the organisational scheme.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Enthusiasm for delivering the highest quality care and education.
- Experience of managing a team; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, young people and external agencies.
- Recognised social work qualification (e.g., QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (Children and Young People) and QCF Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People Workforce or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the last 5 years in residential care of children, with at least 1 year supervising and managing staff in a care role.
- Must be licensed to drive a manual car and have use of own car; able to undertake on-call duties.
- Thorough knowledge of Children’s Home legislation, Ofsted inspection requirements, and safeguarding procedures.
