Qualifications

Job description
Overview

Beaufort Care Group are recruiting for an experienced Deputy Manager for our children's home in Bournemouth. As the Deputy Manager you will support the Registered Manager in leading a team of Childcare Practitioners to promote safeguarding of children and support their educational, physical, social and emotional development. You will be responsible for good home management, timely administration and record keeping, ensuring we maintain high standards in line with Ofsted regulations and compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Work with internal and external partners to support the health, development, and well-being of the children.
  • Lead team consultations and ensure the children’s voices are heard in planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the Registered Manager to assess team performance and implement improvements.
  • Role-model best practice and provide crisis intervention support to the team.
  • Develop, review, and report on placement plans to meet every child’s evolving and individual needs.
  • Maintain daily routines and manage resources effectively, escalating needs to the Registered Manager.
  • Assist with policy implementation, Ofsted preparation, and compliance with regulations.
  • Foster a supportive, open culture, addressing concerns and complaints promptly.
  • Provide on-call support on the roster.
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a team leader or supervisory role within residential childcare, with a sound working knowledge of safeguarding children, Ofsted regulations, Quality Standards and Children’s Home Regulations 2015.
  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3 / 4 in Children, Young People and Families Practitioner (or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience of working with children and young people aged 6-18 who exhibit emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).
  • Knowledge of PACE, attachment theory and play therapy (advantageous).
  • Excellent communication skills and a high standard of English, both written and verbal, with ability to build relationships at all levels within the home, with outside agencies, head office and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to build an excellent team dynamic; model excellent behaviours and apply sound judgement based on experience.
  • Proficiency in record keeping and administration tasks, using MS Office and other IT systems.
  • Essential must-haves: A valid UK driving licence and daily commuting proximity to Bournemouth and surrounding areas.
