Job summary

A respected Local Authority service in Rochester is seeking an experienced residential childcare professional to lead and manage staff in children's residential care. The ideal candidate will hold an NVQ Level 3 Diploma and demonstrate strong leadership and safeguarding knowledge. This full-time permanent role offers the chance to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential.
  • Willingness to work towards or currently undertaking Level 5 Diploma.
  • Proven experience in a children's residential setting.

  • Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home.
  • Lead, supervise and develop a team of residential staff.
  • Oversee safeguarding, rota planning, and risk management.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home
  • Lead, supervise and develop a team of residential staff
  • Ensure compliance with Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted frameworks
  • Oversee safeguarding, rota planning, risk management and quality assurance
  • Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager
  • Promote a safe, nurturing and outcome-focused environment for children and young people
Requirements
  • NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) - essential
  • Willingness to work towards, or currently undertaking, Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare
  • Proven experience leading and managing staff within a children's residential setting
  • Knowledge of Ofsted, SCCIF and Children's Homes Regulations 2015
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and risk management experience
  • Understanding of therapeutic practices
  • Resilience, patience and ability to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Full UK driving licence
