Evelina London is at the heart of a network of children’s health services in Lambeth and Southwark and across South-East England. We provide a comprehensive range of children’s health services, so that we are able to look after patients from antenatal diagnosis through childhood, into adolescence and on into adult services.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting Children and Young People with complex needs, assessing education needs, and preventing hospital admissions. We are seeking enthusiastic, experienced paediatric nurses who have a passion for community care.

You will work as an autonomous practitioner supporting children and young people with complex needs to access education. You will also be responsible for training, caseload management, handover of care, and service development, providing specialist input when necessary.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Children's Nurse wishing to expand their skills and knowledge working with children and young people with complex needs in the community.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work autonomously and a passion for providing high-quality care that supports and empowers children and young people to access education and manage their own care where possible within the home, school, and other community sites within Lambeth and Southwark.

The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner providing high-quality specialist nursing care, education, and training to children, young people, and their carers in school and community settings.

They will support children and young people with complex needs to access education and prevent hospital admissions, providing clinical supervision to staff and students, undertaking research, leading clinical audits, and working collaboratively across the Children’s Community Nursing Service to ensure safety, dignity, and human rights through person-centered care principles.

The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner, providing high-quality specialist nursing care, education, and training to children and young people in various settings, ensuring access to education and hospital admission prevention.

They will provide clinical supervision, undertake research, lead audits, and be innovative and flexible in training and education roles. Collaboration across services is essential to promote safety, dignity, and person-centered care.

Person specification

Qualification

  • RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register, with appropriate specialization level.
  • Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge, supplemented by specialist training and CPD.
  • BSc/1st degree (health-related) or equivalent qualification/training and experience.

Experience

  • Experience in teaching, assessing, supervising in a clinical setting.
  • Competent in managing patients within the specialty.

Skills/Knowledge/Ability

  • Ability to assess, plan, implement, evaluate care, and advise patients and relatives.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong time management, communication skills, and sensitivity handling.
  • Leadership in mentoring students.
