Job summary

Are you an experienced Children's Nurse looking for a new challenge? We are recruiting to our Children's Community Nursing service in Cornwall.

The successful candidate will join an established supportive team, with the role based mainly in the East of the county and regular travel across Cornwall to fulfil caseload duties, support triage and weekend services. This is a permanent 37.5 hour post, spread over 4 days per week, with regular weekend and bank holiday working and on-call requirements

Qualifications

• Current professional registration - NMC.
• Teaching or mentoring qualification.
• Non medical prescriber.
• Experience with children and young people with complex health needs (e.g., IV, enteral feeding, tracheostomy care).
• Caseload management experience.
• Experience supervising others and delivering training.
• Knowledge of children’s community nursing issues.
• Experience in end-of-life care and working in a community setting.

Responsibilities

• Hold your own caseload and plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate care.
• Support strategy to reduce hospital admissions and enable safe discharge.

Job summary

Are you an experienced Children's Nurse looking for a new challenge? We are looking to recruit to our Children's Community Nursing service where you will join an established supportive team here in Cornwall.

We are pleased to advertise a Band 6 Children's Community Nurse vacancy working across Cornwall. The successful candidate will be predominantly based in the East of the county; however, regular travel throughout Cornwall will be required to fulfil caseload duties, support triage and weekend services, and provide cover where needed

This is a permanent contract for 37.5 hrs currently divided over 4 days per week, to meet service need.

The role includes regular weekend and bank holiday working and on call requirement for End of Life care.

Main duties of the job

You will have current experience in looking after acutely unwell children. You must be highly motivated and possess excellent acute clinical assessment skills and are able to communicate and organise effectively. You must be experienced in working under pressure and have the ability to work independently. We require your skills & enthusiasm to develop our strategy in supporting unnecessary hospital admissions and reduce length of stay by facilitating early and safe discharge from the acute trust as well as supporting children and young people with long term or palliative conditions. You will hold your own caseload, taking responsibility for planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating care given.

Education and Qualification

Essential

• Current professional registration - NMC
• Teaching or Mentoring Qualification
• Non medical prescriber
• Experience of applying specialist knowledge and advanced clinical skills when working with children and young people with complex health needs. i.e. IV, sub cut IM medication. Central line access & care / enteral feeding devices / Tracheostomy care / technical medical equipment
• Caseload management
• Experience of supporting/supervising other team members and/or students
• Experience of delivering training to others including non NHS staff, patients and their families/carers
• A good knowledge and understanding of children’s community nursing issues
• Substantial post registration experience of working with children who may have a learning disability, complex health needs, palliative diagnosis, an acute short- or long-term condition requiring nursing intervention
• Previous experience in a community setting
• Experience in end of life care
