Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and motivated person to take on the role of a Band 5 Registered Children's Nurse within the Community Children's Nursing Team.

This is an exciting and varied role and the successful candidate will be required to work as part of team supporting children and young people in community settings (home, nursery/school and nurse led clinics) in collaboration with parents/carers and other professionals.

Candidates must be registered with the NMC as a RSCN or RNCB / RNLD. The candidate will have experience of nursing children and young people in a wide range of clinical settings. The candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work well as part of a wider multi-agency team. The ability to work flexibly and under own initiative will be required.

The successful post holder will be required to travel throughout Powys.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply

Main duties of the job

Facilitate and provide nursing care for children across outpatient clinics and Community Settings including Special Schools in collaboration with parents/carers and other professionals. The post-holder will care for children under the following categories:

Children with acute and short-term needs

Children with long term conditions

Children with disabilities and complex conditions, including those requiring continuing care and children with learning disability, ASD and ADHD

Children with life-limiting and life-threatening illness

Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team; this includes the Powys Integrated Disability Team to ensure that the child/young person receive a high standard of nursing care by adopting a family centred approach.

Excellent communication skills are essential with an empathetic nature and theability to give care and support. A working knowledge of child protection is essential.

The post holder will mentor and support other staff, including pre-registration nursing students and other professionals as required; training for mentorship will be supported through professional development.
