Job description

Social Worker - Initial Assessment Team

Location: Ballard House, Plymouth
Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: 39,513 - 43,693

Plymouth City Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Initial Assessment Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to make a significant impact on children and families at the early stages of intervention.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial assessments and investigations to ensure child safety and welfare.

  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to provide timely and effective interventions.

  • Manage and prioritise caseloads effectively within statutory guidelines.

  • Prepare detailed assessments, reports, and recommendations for safeguarding and support services.

  • Engage directly with children and families to assess needs and provide support.



Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.

  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience (PQ) - ASYE completion alone does not qualify.

  • Strong experience in child protection, safeguarding, and initial assessments.

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring high-quality service delivery.
