Overview

Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker – EBD

  • Location: MK
  • Salary: £14 PER hour plus sleeps paid at £14 PH - £53,508 working 3 days a week
  • Hours: Full-time / Shift-based (including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins)
  • Contract Type: Permanent

Join our team as a Senior Children’s Residential Support Worker, where you will lead and support a team dedicated to caring for children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This role is ideal for someone who is confident, experienced, and emotionally intelligent, ready to provide both hands-on care and strategic leadership to ensure the highest standard of support.

Responsibilities
  • Lead by example in delivering trauma-informed, child-centred care.
  • Support and guide junior staff, offering coaching, supervision, and mentoring.
  • Take responsibility for shifts, ensuring smooth handovers and consistent care delivery.
  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children and young people.
  • Manage challenging behaviour with empathy, consistency, and professionalism.
  • Liaise with external professionals including social workers, therapists, and education providers.
  • Ensure the home meets regulatory standards and promotes a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Significant experience working with children or young people in residential care, ideally within EBD.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to support and develop a team.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, and behavioural support strategies.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and decision-making abilities.
  • Resilience, compassion, and a commitment to making a lasting difference.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce.
  • Enhanced DBS check (required prior to employment).
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential).
