Role: Children Panel Solicitor Director - Outside London

Leading law firm looking to recruit dedicated Children Panel Solicitor Directors (x3) for highly sought permanent position.

Family & Children Department Background:

The Family & Children law department is ranked and recognized by The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners for family and matrimonial work. It provides confidential advice and effective representation. The team includes practitioners with Law Society’s Children Law and Family Law Advanced accreditations, offering advocacy in all court proceedings and ensuring consistent, professional service with high continuity.

The department has extensive experience in assisting high net worth individuals with divorce, domestic abuse, adoption, child abduction, and related matters, including injunctions, maintenance, property, pensions, and freezing orders.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Report directly to and collaborate with the Board to meet performance targets.
  • Manage all aspects of Child Care work, providing technical expertise and guidance.
  • Supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers, managing caseloads and complexities.
  • Assist with training and development within the department.
  • Handle a variety of public and private children cases, including child abduction, protection issues, guardianship, and adoption, and undertake advocacy.
  • Maintain a professional, proactive approach, with strong client care skills and interest in business development and marketing.
Key Skills Required:
  • 3+ Years PQE
  • Law Society registration; Children Panel membership desirable
  • Highly driven and committed
  • Valid Practicing Certificate at application time
  • Strong management skills
  • Team player with fair approach to team concerns, fostering positive change and cross-referrals
  • Proven supervisory experience and KPI management
  • Excellent client care, networking, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of publicly funded Child Care work and ability to handle privately funded cases
  • Extensive Child Care work experience, including adoption matters
  • Advocacy experience is a plus
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office and document management
