Job description

Are you keen to work with children and young people experiencing mental health challenges? Or do you want a change of clinical environment?

Within Children & Adolescent Mental Health Services in Buckinghamshire we are looking for motivated qualified mental health nurses who are looking to work in a great team alongside nurses, occupational therapists and social workers, all of whom are dedicated to improving services for young people. You may be a band 5 ready for the next step in their career, or an experienced band 6 nurse who wants to gain exposure in a new area. Either way, we have a career path ready for you.

You will join our Single Point of Access (SPA) team. This is a vital frontline service and the first point of contact for all new referrals and enquiries, including self-referrals and those from parents, carers, and professionals. You will play a key role in ensuring timely clinical triage and appropriate signposting to the right support at the right time.

  • Triage new referrals, adhering to service protocols and referring clients to the appropriate service or back to the referral agent as necessary
  • Deliver training to the wider children's workforce as required, ensuring that staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge
  • Provide consultative advice to parents, carers, and other professionals on appropriate steps to support children's mental health and emotional wellbeing
  • Support service delivery, ensuring it meets national guidance and local key performance indicators
  • Use communication skills to understand and address sensitive difficulties, develop tailored interventions, and work with external agencies to ensure the right intervention is offered

The ability to travel independently between sites within the Trust is essential for this role. Please note if you are based outside of the UK you will need to be fully qualified, have already passed your OSCE and have an NMC pin number or hold HCPC registration in order to be considered for this role.
