This role involves delivering focused support services, building relationships with residents, and ensuring effective communication with partner organisations. Qualifications

Overview

Join us as a Children and Young Person Support Worker (domestic abuse), or known as internally at Thirteen, a Support Service Co-ordinator (Children and Young People)! This post is for a Women’s Refuge based in the North of County Durham until March 2026, with the potential to extend.

This post is open to women only in accordance with The Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1 and are subject to Enhanced DBS checks & satisfactory references.

You will work a 4 week rolling rota as a Support Service Co-ordinator between the hours of 9am – 7pm. You will be expected to work late every one in four Friday and then have the following weekend on call.

Key Responsibilities
  • As a Support Service Coordinator, you will deliver a quality, customer focussed support and guidance service, with domestic abuse support work as appropriate for the children and their mothers who are residing in our women’s refuge due to fleeing domestic abuse.
  • You will be responsible for contributing to the success of the refuge service, building relationships and partnerships with residents, colleagues and partner organisations.
  • You will undertake, authorise and review individual client needs assessment which generate a support and assessment plan.
  • You'll be heavily involved in organising and completing sessions with the children in the refuge.
  • There will be a lot of multi-agency communication as part of this role.
About You
  • You'll have experience of working with children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse.
  • You'll have an understanding of safeguarding.
  • You should be able to interpret and create reports.
  • You will need a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
