About the Role

Our Independent Visiting service is seeking volunteers in or near Rugeley to support children and young people in care. If you are passionate about helping young people and can commit 2 to 4 hours once a month, we would love to hear from you.

What You Will Do
  • Spend quality time with a child or young person, engaging in activities like going to the cinema, bowling, sports, dining out, riding bikes, or walking in parks.
  • Build a supportive relationship based on shared interests.
Requirements
  • No prior experience working with children is necessary; a genuine interest in their development and welfare is important.
  • Full training and ongoing support are provided.
  • Commitment of at least 24 months with one visit per month to ensure stability for the young person.
Who Can Apply

We welcome volunteers from diverse backgrounds who are reliable, enthusiastic, and eager to make a difference. Activities are mainly scheduled on weekends and after school hours.

  • Brad (13): Lives in residential care; enjoys outings and fun activities.
  • Cassie (16): New to the area; loves hot chocolate and cake, needs confidence-building.
  • Danny (11): Likes parks, aeroplanes, and animals; seeks independence.
  • Emma (9): Enjoys spending time alone and trying new activities.
Application Process
  • Complete the application form thoroughly, especially the Personal Statement section.
  • Volunteering is primarily during weekends and after school.
  • This role requires an enhanced DBS check.
