Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship. Our vision is to break down the barriers that stop people getting the support they need to live a life they value. We tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities, through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and related support.

We have almost 200 services around England – and nearly 3,500 amazing staff and volunteers who run them. Every year our services support around 125,000 people.

Bringing together two big organisations is not a small task and it’ll take a while to fully integrate our systems, processes and approaches. That’s why you will notice the jobs here are still branded ‘Humankind’. Next year we’ll be fully integrating our recruitment systems but for now they are separate.

About The Role

Newcastle Treatment and Recovery (NTaR) is an all-age community drug and alcohol service supporting local people, families and communities across Newcastle. NTaR is a collaborative service partnership led by CNTW NHS Foundation Trust with Waythrough and Changing Lives.

Within the partnership Waythrough deliver services for children and young adults up to 25 years old with a focus on offering age-appropriate services that support children and young adults to make positive choices in their lifestyle and behaviours.

Working in partnership with children and young people, families and a wide range of stakeholders that includes schools, children’s services, youth justice and other children and young people’s support services is an essential element of the service.
We have an opportunity for 1 full time role to join the integrated service team.

Based in the service’s city centre location and working across a wide range of community venues, we’re looking for people who thrive as part of a team to provide high quality care, treatment and access to opportunities for children and young people across Newcastle. These are diverse roles that range from working with children through to supporting young adults during transition to adult services.

Main duties of the role will include:

  • Managing a caseload of client, providing bespoke support including brief interventions, education sessions through to structured treatment,
  • Working closely with internal and external stakeholders and working with a multi-agency approach to support as many children and young people as possible,
  • Engaging clients in psychosocial interventions to encourage them to move through their treatment goals,
  • Identifying risks and safeguarding issues and reporting these appropriately and withing a timely manner internally and externally,
  • Supporting key service-wide practises such as attendance at meetings, access to BBV testing and immunisation, supporting with assessment and duty work, harm reduction interventions
  • Engaging with community events to promote the Children and Young Adults service throughout the city,
  • Engaging with training and development opportunities and ensuring all mandatory training is complete within a timely manner,
  • Ensuring administrative duties are completed within expected timeframes and to a high standard,
  • Managing your diary and client appointments to ensure each client is receiving the highest level of care and support.

Due to the nature of our service, this role is office and community based. Driving licence not essential.

Please note that here at Newcastle, we have parking permits available on a rota basis for all staff members.

We are aware of the ongoing works on the Tyne Bridge and we are happy to say that we are flexible with working hours due to this, as we understand it may possibly make commuting difficult at times.
