Job description

Job Vacancy

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Children's Services Disability team. The successful candidate will join a team comprising a team leader, 3 FTE social workers, 5 Practitioners, and 2 development workers. This team supports children and their families affected by disability by undertaking assessments of need (Section 23) and creating and reviewing packages of care. Applicants should be able to work creatively and flexibly to meet needs and be passionate about supporting families with disabilities.

The Disability Team is committed to keeping 'The Promise' and ensuring the voices of children, young people, and their families are at the heart of all we do. As a newly formed team, this is an opportunity to be part of its development. Children's Services are keen to invest in staff, recognizing the importance of a supportive working environment.

Knowledge

Essential:

  • Educated to HNC social care and SVQ Level 3 (children and young people) or equivalent with a relevant discipline.
  • Experience working with national and local practice, policy, procedures, and legislation relevant to the post, including awareness of the SSSC Code of Practice, The Promise, Human Rights legislation, UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and 'Getting it right for every child.'
  • Experience working with children and families, including child development and trauma-based interventions.
  • Knowledge of systemic interventions and methodologies, such as attachment-promoting therapy, trauma-based therapy, child development, and parenting capacity.
  • Understanding of roles and responsibilities of key agencies.

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering parenting programs or other group work.
  • Specialist experience working with children and families in crisis or at risk.
  • Behavioral interview skills.

Job Details

Position Title: Children and Families Practitioner

Location: Eskdaill Court

Contract: Fixed Term for 2 years

Hours of Work: 36 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday - Friday

Salary: Minimum £37,618.22 per annum based on 36 hours/week over 52 weeks.
