Children’s Social Worker – Fostering/CIC #000A1E3A1

Semester Recruitment are working with Wigan Council, who are looking for an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join their Fostering and Children in Care (CIC) service.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated and child-focused team, committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for children and young people in care.

Managing a caseload of Looked After Children

Building and maintaining positive relationships with children, carers, and families

Undertaking statutory visits, writing reports for reviews, and planning for permanency

Working closely with fostering teams and other agencies to ensure safe, stable placements

Supporting transitions, placements, and long-term planning in line with each child’s care plan

Attending reviews, meetings, and court as required

What We’re Looking For:

Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration

Recent experience in a Children in Care or Fostering team

Strong knowledge of care planning, safeguarding, and statutory responsibilities

Confident in managing complex cases and working closely with multi-agency teams

Committed to promoting positive outcomes and permanency for children in care
