Qualifications

Out of Hours Social Worker – Children & Adults
Stockport Council | Shift-based role (outside normal hours)
Interim Opportunity | Experienced Practitioners Only

Semester Recruitment are working in partnership with Stockport Council, who are seeking a skilled and confident Out of Hours Social Worker to join their established and well-supported emergency duty team.

This is a vital role providing urgent social work intervention outside of standard business hours, ensuring children, families, and adults at risk receive timely, effective, and safe responses during evenings, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

Respond to urgent safeguarding concerns involving children and vulnerable adults

Undertake Section 47 investigations, urgent adult safeguarding enquiries, and emergency placements (children and adults)

Use professional judgement to assess and manage risk, make immediate safeguarding decisions, and coordinate with relevant services

Carry out welfare visits and checks, emergency assessments, and implement protective actions

Work closely with on-call managers and service leads for oversight and guidance

Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

Minimum 3 years’ experience in statutory children’s social care

Confident, responsive, and calm under pressure

Able to think creatively and act decisively to protect vulnerable individuals

Passionate about achieving positive outcomes and working within a fast-paced, dynamic service
