Location: Brighton & Hove
Pay: From £14.25 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: Shift work | Early & Late shifts | 8-hour shifts

We are currently recruiting Childcare Workers / Residential Support Workers to join a specialist residential setting in the Brighton & Hove area, supporting children and young people who may have experienced trauma, emotional difficulties, behavioural challenges or require additional support with their development and wellbeing.

This is a rewarding role for someone who is patient, resilient, compassionate and confident in their personality, with the ability to build positive relationships and provide consistent support.

The Role

As a Childcare Worker, you will play an important role in creating a safe, stable and supportive environment for young people.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing day-to-day care, support and supervision to children and young people
  • Building trusting and positive relationships
  • Supporting young people with routines, activities and independence
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Helping young people develop confidence, communication and life skills
  • Supporting recreational, educational and community activities
  • Responding calmly and appropriately to challenging situations
  • Following safeguarding, care and behaviour support procedures
  • Working closely with colleagues to provide consistent, person-centred support
  • Maintaining a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment
Shifts

The role operates on a shift-work basis, including:

  • Early shifts
  • Late shifts
  • 8-hour shifts
  • Some flexibility around working patterns is required
What We're Looking For

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable, particularly within:

  • Residential childcare
  • Children's homes
  • SEND or SEMH settings
  • Education or Alternative Provision
  • Youth work
  • Social care
  • Family support
  • Behaviour support
  • Mental health or community support

However, transferable experience and the right personality are strongly considered.
