Job summary

Virgin Active is seeking a Junior Activities Supervisor to join our Family Activities Team in our clubs. As part-time, 32 hours per week, you will help create a safe, engaging environment where children can learn, play and thrive while delivering exceptional family experiences.

You will inspire and support the childcare team, supervise staff, manage rosters, ensure safeguarding and health and safety, and build strong relationships with families.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 childcare qualification.
• Experience with children in childcare/education.
• Friendly, calm and approachable with quick decision making.
• Experience supervising a team and motivating others.
• Excellent communication with children and parents.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Flexible to work evenings, weekends and school holidays.

Responsibilities

• Support daily operation of Club V for children of all ages.
• Supervise childcare team and uphold care and safety standards.
• Deliver fun, age-appropriate activities for children and families.
• Build relationships with children, parents and caregivers.
• Assist with rota management and daily activity planning.
• Ensure safeguarding and health and safety policies are followed.
• Lead the team in absence of Family Activities Manager.

In this role, you will play a part in helping create a safe, engaging and memorable environment where children can learn, play and thrive while supporting the delivery of exceptional family experiences. You will inspire and support the childcare team, build strong relationships with families, and help maintain the highest standards of care, safety and service across our junior programmes.

The Role

• Support the day-to-day operation of Club V, ensuring a safe, engaging and welcoming environment for children of all ages.
• Supervise and support the childcare team, helping to maintain exceptional standards of care, service and compliance.
• Deliver fun, creative and age-appropriate activities that provide memorable experiences for children and families.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents and caregivers, creating a trusted and welcoming family environment.
• Support team training, onboarding and development, acting as a role model for service, safety and operational standards.
• Assist with rota management, team organisation and the smooth running of daily activities.
• Ensure all safeguarding, health and safety, and company policies are followed at all times.
• Support the Family Activities Manager and confidently lead the team in their absence when required.

Who We’re Looking For

• Minimum Level 3 qualification in a childcare-related field (Health & Social Care qualifications alone do not meet the requirement).
• Previous experience working with children in a childcare, nursery, education, leisure or similar environment.
• Friendly, calm and approachable, with the ability to act quickly and effectively in a variety of situations.
• Experience supporting or supervising a team, with a passion for motivating others and creating positive team cultures.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, particularly with children, parents and caregivers.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with a proactive and solution-focused approach.
• Passionate about creating exceptional experiences for children and families.
• Flexible to work across the club’s operating hours, including evenings, weekends and school holidays where required.
