G2Legal is seeking an experienced Childcare Solicitor to join the Care Department in Coventry. The role focuses on managing a private caseload and providing high-quality legal advice and representation to vulnerable clients and families.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in public law children matters, strong advocacy, drafting and negotiation skills, and be qualified in England and Wales. Flexible working and a positive firm culture are part of the opportunity.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with active England & Wales status.
• Experience managing childcare/public law cases.
• Strong advocacy, drafting and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of childcare and public law children matters.
• Advise and represent parents, grandparents, guardians and other eligible clients.
• Handle care proceedings, Interim Care Orders, Emergency Protection Orders, Supervision Orders, Special Guardianship Orders and adoption matters.
• Prepare applications, statements, position statements and other court documentation.
• Attend court hearings and undertake advocacy where appropriate.
• Work closely with counsel, local authorities, courts, experts and other professionals.
• Provide compassionate, clear and practical advice to clients.
• Ensure files, deadlines and Legal Aid requirements are managed effectively.
• Contribute to the development and reputation of the Care Department.

This is an excellent opportunity for a committed solicitor with experience in public law children and childcare matters to manage their own caseload and provide high-quality legal advice and representation to vulnerable clients and families.

The Role

• Manage a varied caseload of childcare and public law children matters
• Advise and represent parents, grandparents, guardians and other eligible clients
• Handle care proceedings, Interim Care Orders, Emergency Protection Orders, Supervision Orders, Special Guardianship Orders and adoption matters

About You

• Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales
• Experience in childcare/public law children matters
• Strong knowledge of childcare legislation and court processes
• Able to manage an independent caseload
• Strong advocacy, drafting and negotiation skills
• Legal Aid and duty scheme experience would be advantageous
• Membership of the Association of Lawyers for Children or Resolution would be desirable
