Job summary

A local after school club is seeking a Playwork Practitioner to work with children aged 4-12 years. The ideal candidate will provide a creative and nurturing environment while organizing activities that meet the children's emotional and intellectual needs. Candidates should possess or be willing to work towards a qualification in Play Work/Childcare, and must be registered with SSSC. This role offers flexible hours with opportunities during school holidays.

Job description
Overview

Gylemuir after school club (GASC) based in Gylemuir Primary School, EH12, is looking for a Playwork Practitioner to work with children aged 4-12 years.

The post requires a creative, enthusiastic, cheerful, reliable, responsible and assertive individual who has good organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team to deliver a varied activity programme for children aged 4 to 12 years.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children after school to enjoy a wide range of play, learning and leisure activities.
  • Organise a daily routine that meets the emotional, social, physical and intellectual needs of the children.
  • Work in partnership with parents, carers and professionals in order to promote the well being of the children.
Qualifications and requirements
  • A qualification in Play Work/Childcare is preferred at SVQ3/HNC Level, (Candidates must be willing to work towards a qualification if they have none with support from GASC).
  • Registration with SSSC and membership of the PVG Scheme will be a requirement for this post - the cost of this will be covered from GASC.

Hours and terms

Hours: After school hours during term time with opportunities for additional hours during the holidays in holiday clubs.
