About The Service

The Childcare Offer for Wales provides 30 hours a week of funded early education and childcare for eligible parents in work or in education/training of 3 to 4 year olds. The Offer has been operating in Cardiff since late 2018 and to date over 6,500 children have benefited.

The Childcare Offer Team is responsible for the delivery of the Offer across Cardiff, including promoting the Offer to parents and providers, assessing applications from parents, processing payment claims from childcare providers, providing progress and financial reports to the Welsh Government and internal management, and ensuring compliance with internal and external policies and procedures.

Job Details

We are seeking to recruit a Childcare Offer Business Support Officer who will support the effective delivery of the Childcare Offer in Cardiff. Specifically, the post holder will:

  • Support the effective assessment of parental applications for the Offer
  • Support the effective communication of the decisions reached on the eligibility of parents for the childcare element of the Offer
  • Ensure that payments to childcare providers are made in a timely and accurate manner
  • Support the collection, collation and reporting of key data as required by the Welsh Government
  • Ensure compliance with all required policies, procedures, legislation and statutory requirements
What We Are Looking For From You

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a keen eye for detail, provide high quality customer service to childcare providers and parents and ensure the accuracy of the data held on the project's database. The post holder will be confident using a variety of IT systems and also be able to manage and support change within the service.

The assessment of parental applications against set criteria and the timely recording and checking of information supplied by childcare providers will form the core function of the role. The Childcare Offer funding aims to support parents to access employment/education or training whilst the childcare provided will enhance young children's development and school readiness.
