Job Description
As an Early Years Apprentice at Happy Haven Day Nursery, you will play a vital role in supporting the development and well-being of the children in our care. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily activities, helping create a safe and engaging environment, and supporting the planning of learning experiences that promote children's growth.
Day to Day Responsibilities;
- Assist in planning and delivering engaging learning activities for children, promoting their development.
- Support children with their personal care, including feeding, toileting, and dressing.
- Observe and record children’s progress, sharing findings with senior practitioners.
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for all children.
- Ensure children’s safety and well-being by following safeguarding policies and reporting any concerns promptly.
- Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging their social and emotional development.
- Work alongside colleagues to support daily routines, including setting up and tidying up after activities.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to further develop skills and knowledge.
- Support with the preparation and maintenance of resources and equipment for activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates on children’s progress when required.
- Follow nursery policies and procedures, including health and safety and safeguarding regulations.
- Uphold Happy Haven’s philosophy and approach to learning as an attachment-based nursery, prioritizing secure, trusting relationships to foster emotional well-being and development.
- Work in line with statutory guidance and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to support children’s learning and development.
- Work in line with British Values, promoting mutual respect, tolerance, and inclusivity in all aspects of care and education.
- Create learning opportunities for all children and families in our care, ensuring that each individual’s needs and abilities are supported and nurtured.

It has an Ofsted Grade 2 Good rating and an overall achievement rate of 71.4%, exceeding the national average of 65.6%. Using a blended approach, learners are always at the forefront of our priorities. All learners are assigned a Personal Tutor who will be their main point of contact.
This involves regular catch-ups, check-in emails and calls. Your employer will agree to give you 20% of your working hours solely towards your study.
This will give you every chance to achieve the highest grade possible! On completion of this 18 month apprenticeship you will have gained; Early Years Practitioner – L2.
