Job Description

As an Early Years apprentice, you will work towards delivering the following:

  • Ensuring a high standard of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual education and care for all children.
  • Following the requirements in the Early Years Foundation Stage welfare requirement.
  • Working as part of a team, encouraging positive attitudes between staff and children at all times.
  • Acting as a key person for a small group of children, keeping records, setting individual targets, regularly updating and assessing progress, and recording observations in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage, while liaising closely with parents/carers to meet each child's individual needs.
  • Implementing the daily routine at Dell Cottage and assisting with curriculum planning for each topic.
  • Helping to set up the nursery if starting early, ensuring activities are prepared, and daily information slips are filled out.
  • Planning, executing, and evaluating daily activities to encourage development, linking activities with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Familiarizing with and implementing policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
  • Using the daily diary to record any unusual comments or observations.
  • Reporting any concerns to the Manager/Deputy Manager/Supervisor promptly.

Training

Learners are supported through a blended approach with assigned Personal Tutors, regular catch-ups, and dedicated study hours, totaling 20% of working hours.
