Job summary

North Yorkshire Centre for Independent Living is seeking a Personal Assistant to support a 6-year-old autistic boy at home and during family outings. You will help with daily activities, regulate behaviours, and provide a caring, energetic presence to keep him engaged and happy.

Experience with autism or sensory needs is preferred; a calm and patient approach is essential. A driving licence and access to a car are preferred but not required for the right candidate.

We are looking for an energetic, warm, and reliable Personal Assistant to support our bright, enthusiastic 6-year-old autistic son.

Our home is full of life and activity - he has a younger sister and another baby sibling on the way too!

He is an active boy who loves exploring the world around him. Some of his favourite things include:

Getting outside into nature and going for walks with his scooter

Swimming, gymnastic sessions and trips to the local park

Everyday outings, especially scanning our shopping at the supermarket!

Technology and gaming are his special interests and provide good opportunities for communication and building connection.

We are looking for someone who can build a trusting, positive relationship with him, whether supporting him at home, taking him out, or joining us on family outings. He can be very active so energy and enthusiasm are key!

We are hoping to find someone who has experience with autism and sensory needs or an enthusiasm to learn. Someone calm and patient who can become a trusted safe person, become a buddy, support with regulation and occasionally personal care. A driving licence and access to a car is preferred but not essential for the right person. Someone who can chat with him and support with his safe technology use would be lovely - he likes to share his video games too!, Working with autistic children: 1 year (preferred)
