Job summary

We Do Social Work in Peterborough is seeking an experienced Child Exploitation Social Worker to join a specialist Young People's Safeguarding service. The role focuses on children and young people affected by exploitation, particularly Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).

You will carry a statutory caseload, undertake safeguarding assessments, and work with partners to reduce risk. Hands-on experience with CSE is essential; candidates without this will not be considered.

CHILD EXPLOITATION & CSE EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL

We are seeking an experienced Child Exploitation Social Worker to join a specialist Young People's Safeguarding service in Peterborough.

This role is specifically suited to a Social Worker with strong, demonstrable experience working with children and young people affected by exploitation, particularly Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).

PLEASE NOTE: Previous hands-on experience working with Child Exploitation and CSE is ESSENTIAL. Candidates without this specific experience will be rejected.

The Role

You will work with children and young people experiencing complex safeguarding risks, with a particular focus on child exploitation and CSE.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a statutory caseload across Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP) and Children in Care (CIC).
• Working directly with young people at risk of or experiencing Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and other forms of exploitation.
• Undertaking comprehensive safeguarding assessments and identifying exploitation risks.
• Developing and implementing effective safety and risk management plans.
• Completing direct work with children, young people and families.
• Building trusted relationships with young people who may be reluctant to engage with professionals.
• Responding to complex safeguarding concerns and escalating risks appropriately.
• Working closely with police, education, health, youth services and other partner agencies.
• Contributing to multi-agency safeguarding meetings and strategy discussions.
• Preparing high-quality assessments, reports and statutory documentation.
• Ensuring the child's voice, wishes and feelings remain central to all safeguarding activity.
• Supporting young people to reduce their vulnerability to exploitation and achieve improved outcomes.

About You – ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

We are looking for a qualified Social Worker who has recent and substantial experience of child exploitation work.

You MUST have:

• A Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
• Significant experience within children's safeguarding.
• Direct experience working with Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).
• Experience supporting children and young people affected by child exploitation, including identifying vulnerabilities, assessing risk and implementing safeguarding plans.
• Experience of statutory CIN, CP and/or CIC work.
• Strong experience undertaking direct work with young people and families.
• Excellent understanding of safeguarding and contextual safeguarding.
• Experience working within complex multi-agency safeguarding environments.

We are specifically looking for candidates who have hands-on experience of working with children and young people affected by CSE and/or child exploitation.

Candidates who only have general children's social work experience, but cannot demonstrate specific Child Exploitation/CSE experience, will NOT be considered or submitted.
