About The Role

You will be joining a well-structured and organised team that is looking to grow its staffing levels. The role offers flexible working hours and has a supportive team culture with regular supervision on cases. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and supportive team.

Day-to-day activities

As a Child Protection Practitioner, you will work in a multi-agency Child Protection Team with families involved in complex Child In Need Plans, Child Protection Plans, Pre-proceedings, and Court Proceedings. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering services in accordance with statutory responsibilities set out in the Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation
  • Undertaking assessments of children’s needs following Directorate policies and procedures
  • Creating effective plans reviewed in a timely manner
  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children
  • Providing support, information, and advice to families to help parents become more self-reliant
  • Preparing reports for courts and meetings, presenting to professionals, and attending legal proceedings as required
  • Chairing multi-agency meetings to support plan development and review
  • Maintaining records on the core computer system
  • Working alongside the Lead Family Help Practitioner, providing child protection expertise and leading statutory work
  • Undertaking direct work with children and families to progress plans
  • Undertaking specialist assessments after training
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of post-qualification experience within English local authorities
  • Enhanced DBS/CRB (can be obtained for you)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • SWE Registration
  • Degree in Social Work or equivalent
  • Fulfill all travel requirements of the role

You should demonstrate a high level of post-qualification knowledge of statutory social care services, with experience in delivering complex court proceedings in various court settings. If you meet these requirements, we would love to hear from you.
