Job summary

AMA Admin is recruiting for a Child Development Support Assistant to work in Primary Schools across Sunderland, commencing September. You will support children with learning, social and emotional development, helping them access learning and participate fully in the classroom.

Ideal candidates have Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or above, experience in a Primary School, and a passion for safeguarding and wellbeing. An Enhanced DBS is required or willing to obtain one.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or above is essential.
  • Experience in a Primary School setting.
  • Passion for supporting child development and wellbeing.
  • Understanding of SEND, Autism, ADHD, SEMH or behavioural needs desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Additional qualifications in Education, Childcare or Child Development advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Support children with learning, communication and developmental needs.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to access learning.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social development.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Support children with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language needs and SEMH.
  • Assist with classroom activities, interventions and learning programmes.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and engagement in learning.
  • Work with teachers, SENDCOs and pastoral teams to support pupil progress.
  • Create a nurturing, safe and inclusive learning environment.

Child Development Support Assistant - Washington

We're currently recruiting for a Child Development Support Assistant to work within welcoming and supportive Primary Schools across Sunderland, starting in September.

This rewarding role is perfect for qualified Teaching Assistants who are passionate about supporting children with their academic, social and emotional development. You will play a key role in helping pupils thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Your Main Responsibilities
  • Support children with a range of learning, communication and developmental needs.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to help pupils access learning.
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social development.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Support children with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language needs and SEMH.
  • Assist with classroom activities, interventions and learning programmes.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCOs and pastoral teams to support pupil progress.

Requirements

  • A genuine passion for supporting child development and wellbeing.
  • Understanding of SEND, Autism, ADHD, SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Additional qualifications in Education, Childcare or Child Development are advantageous.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience and the requirements of the assignment.
