An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Child and family Inclusion Support Officer to join our inclusive team at Gatcombe Park Primary School part of Hamwic Education Trust.

HET is a large fastpaced Trust with currently 37 academies across the south to 6 communitybased partnerships there are 34 primary academies 2 secondary and 1 hospital school.

JOB/PERSON SUMMARY:

If you have a positive attitude and commitment to supporting childrens learning and behaviour together with previous experience of supporting vulnerable children within a school then this could be the job for you. Candidates must be qualified to at least NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in supporting teaching and learning in schools (or similar) and have a good standard of literacy and numeracy skills.

You will work in close partnership with the Inclusion Leader to enhance childrens mental health and wellbeing as well as their personal social and emotional needs. You will be required to provide accurate records and daily feedback. You will also support the attendance team in working with families whose children are classed as persistent absentee or could be a potential persistent absentee.

WE ARE SEEKING A PROFESSIONAL INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS:

  • Confidence/experience in delivering high quality ELSA sessions or similar
  • Patience and a flexible approach to your work
  • Confident and experienced with managing challenging behaviour
  • Confidence in working with parents supporting and signposting them to other services
  • Confidence to work with other agencies to benefit families
  • An ability to work independently and with initiative
  • Good team working skills with a willingness to support and learn from colleagues and to enjoy learning themselves
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with both children and adults
  • Effective communication skills
  • Warm personality and plenty of enthusiasm
  • Experience and understanding of working with children with a variety of additional needs
