Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated person to be part of the Waltham Forest Rehabilitation Service.

The Waltham Forest Rehabilitation Service is a multidisciplinary team consisting of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation Assistants, and Rehabilitation Practitioners.

The team provides short-term intensive rehabilitation to patients in their own homes following a period of illness or injury. You will have support from and work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide patient-centred rehabilitation programmes.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an individual who has:

  • Relevant experience in a health and social care setting and basic knowledge of Occupational therapy/Physiotherapy
  • Knowledge of patient/client conditions relevant to community rehabilitation
  • Ability to work under own direction
  • Able to travel to meet the needs of the role

The successful candidate will work alongside the therapy staff to promote independence and improve function for people recently discharged from hospital.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT places great importance on proper onboarding. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction, including mandatory training, systems training, and equipment allocation. The induction takes place at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement – Outer London

Outer London – 15% of basic salary, with a minimum of £4,551 and a maximum of £5,735, pro rata for part-time staff.

Person specification

Qualifications

  • Relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent achieved
  • Relevant experience in a healthcare setting and basic therapy knowledge
  • Associate Practitioner Course or relevant experience

Experience

  • Extensive experience working as a Band 3 rehabilitation assistant in a community setting
  • Minimum of two years at a Band 3 or equivalent
  • Experience providing supervision
  • Awareness of relevant therapy techniques
  • Experience working in adult social care

Knowledge

  • Awareness of NHS Plan, NSF, and clinical governance priorities
  • Knowledge of patient/client conditions relevant to the community setting
  • Knowledge of multi-professional working
  • Understanding the need for professional conduct
