Main duties of the job

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will deliver evidence-based and focused treatment plans to support children and young people aged 8-18, and their families, as they progress through their care plans to understand eating behaviors and restore physical health. You will collaborate with an experienced multidisciplinary team to create tailored treatment programs that support the individual needs of each young person within a warm and nurturing environment.

Job responsibilities

Join the vibrant team at Rhodes Wood Hospital, a specialist CAMHS Eating Disorder service with 3 wards that promotes recovery in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment for children and young people aged 8-18 years with eating disorders. The role offers flexible compressed hours and an £8,000 relocation package.

As a Consultant Psychiatrist working 37.5 hours per week over 4 or 5 days, you will deliver evidence-based treatment plans supporting young people and their families as they work through their care plans to understand eating behaviors and restore physical health.

You will collaborate with a skilled multidisciplinary team to develop tailored treatment programs that meet individual needs, helping to understand symptoms, patterns, and origins of psychological distress. An on-call element is part of this role.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Review referrals and assess their suitability for admission
  • Conduct admission assessments and develop effective management plans for all young people on the unit
  • Perform and review risk assessments regularly
  • Allocate psychological treatments based on individual needs
  • Assess physical health
  • Maintain effective liaison with referring teams
  • Act as Responsible Clinician for young people detained under the Mental Health Act

Qualifications and experience needed:

  • Registered on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with a license to practice
  • Experience with CAMHS eating disorders is desirable

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Registered on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with a license to practice. Experience with CAMHS eating disorders is desirable.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, requiring a DBS disclosure to check for criminal convictions.
