Chief Technology Officer Luxury eCommerce

Our client is a high-growth, independent, founder-led e-commerce platform and marketplace showcasing the best in contemporary furniture and homewares.

We are exclusively looking for their first Chief Technology Officer to be responsible at the board level to realize the business vision and start structuring and planning for next year's three-digit online business growth.

Our client seeks a candidate to assume a part hands-on, part strategic role within the organization. You will spend time strategizing, planning projects, budgeting, and managing execution in collaboration with the team and external partners. Your focus will be executing an effective technical roadmap and future-proofing the platform's scalability in a dynamic market, especially given the current climate and consumer shift to online shopping.

Your role
  • Building and implementing the e-commerce strategy, including B2B and B2C customer platforms, supplier portal, and digital marketing.
  • Hiring, retaining, growing, and motivating teams, fostering a culture of learning, knowledge sharing, and technical excellence, with a focus on inclusivity and diversity.
  • Setting budgets and providing regular reports on performance metrics (OKRs and KPIs), as well as budget management (CapEx and OpEx) as approved by the board.
  • Analyzing the customer journey and lifecycle, developing processes to maintain customer satisfaction while supporting high scalability and performance.
  • Developing integrated processes from product sourcing to order fulfillment.
  • Creating a culture of innovative product delivery techniques to motivate and develop the team, positioning the company as a market leader.
  • Providing oversight on technology use to enhance security, reduce risk, and ensure compliance with regulations like GDPR, including developing contingency and disaster recovery plans.
  • Monitoring industry trends, best practices, and technological advances to strengthen the business through technology.
  • Representing the organization externally at industry events, conferences, and through public speaking engagements.
Your profile
  • Proven track record in senior tech or digital roles within the fashion, luxury, or design eCommerce sectors (B2C or B2B).
  • A self-starter with enthusiasm, driven to implement technology solutions that streamline processes, increase sales and margins, and enhance customer and staff satisfaction.
  • Ability to think strategically, communicate effectively, and collaborate with colleagues and partners to deliver complex solutions.
  • Experience in hiring, retaining, and motivating high-performing teams.
  • A strong technology background with coding and infrastructure expertise, combined with understanding of the luxury and design industries.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce systems such as WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento, or similar retail solutions.
  • A passion for new technology and inspiring colleagues to adopt a digital mindset and explore innovative ideas.
  • Highly organized, capable of delivering on time, with clear and detailed reporting skills.
