Job Description: Chief Technology Officer

Position Overview: We are seeking an entrepreneurial Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead our internal and offshore team of developers and coordinate the different suppliers we work with, The CTO will be responsible for shaping and executing the technological strategy of the company, ensuring that our internal systems and processes are robust, the integration with external vendors is properly working and scalable, and aligned with our business objectives. This role requires strong project management capabilities, budget planning and P&L management skills. Financial markets knowledge is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technological Strategy & Leadership:
  • Develop and implement the company's technology strategy to support business goals and maintain a competitive edge in the financial industry.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and assess their potential application to enhance our trading and investment platforms.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align technological initiatives with organizational objectives.
  • Team Management & Development:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of internal and offshore developers, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional development of technical staff to build a high-performing team.
  • Oversee the design, development, connectivity and maintenance of complex systems with external vendors
  • Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of all our technological infrastructures.
  • Implement best practices in software development, including version control, testing, and code reviews.
  • Work closely with trading, compliance, operations, and other departments to ensure technological solutions meet internal and external requirements.
  • Facilitate effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive informed decision-making.
  • Identify and mitigate technological risks, including cybersecurity threats and system failures.
  • Ensure all systems comply with industry regulations and internal policies.
  • Budgeting & Resource Allocation:
  • Built and manage the technology budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions and optimal resource allocation.
  • Evaluate and negotiate with vendors for hardware, software, and services to support technological initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related field. An MBA or other relevant graduate degree is a plus.
  • Experience:
  • Proven experience in a managerial technology leadership role preferably in quantitative trading, asset management or other financial services companies.
  • Extensive experience in project management, with a strong understanding of financial instruments and markets.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Strong programming knowledge in languages such as Python, Java, or C++.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), database management, and data analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies and best practices.
  • Leadership & Communication:
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire technical teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills and a strategic mindset.
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
  • Clear and effective communicator.
  • Ability to contribute innovative ideas and feedback to enhance existing tools and processes.
  • Not afraid to ask questions when faced with uncertainties or challenges.
