Job summary

G-Research is seeking a Chief Business Risk Officer (CBRO) to lead the firm’s second line of defence from our London headquarters. You will shape and mature the enterprise risk capability, partnering with Engineering, Security and Technology leadership to embed risk management across design and operations.

Reporting to the COO, you will oversee risk controls, incident response, and governance, balancing innovation with prudent risk-taking in a fast-moving, technology-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Significant experience operating enterprise risk frameworks in technology-led organisations.
• Proven leadership across security, technology or enterprise risk.
• Strong understanding of modern engineering practices and credible technical dialogue.
• Ability to influence Executive and Board level decisions.
• Experience using automation, data or AI to improve risk management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mature the second line of defence, ensuring effective oversight while enabling the business.
• Own and evolve the operational risk framework into an embedded, data-driven capability.
• Develop a holistic view of risk across technology, infrastructure, security, operations and corporate functions.
• Partner with Engineering, Security and Technology leadership to embed risk into service design and operations.
• Provide independent oversight of security controls, operational resilience and policy compliance.
• Enable the first line to make informed decisions aligned with the firm’s risk appetite.
• Use automation, data and AI to improve risk identification, monitoring and reporting.
• Oversee incidents, material risks and remediation to ensure timely prioritisation and resolution.
• Provide clear risk insight to the Executive Management Team and Board.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team across Enterprise Risk, Security Risk Oversight and Operational Resilience.
