Job Description

Job Title: Chief Project Engineer

Working Pattern: Hybrid – Minimum of 3 Days a week in the office

Working location: Bristol

NautIQ Solutions (UK) is seeking a Chief Project Engineer (Commercial & Naval Marine Installed Products).

The Chief Project Engineer will be the technical representative for all issues related to installed products (electrical), including ASTUTE, DREADNOUGHT (post hardware delivery), surface warship electrical systems, and Marello DC Hybrid system. The role involves contributing to business strategy, product improvement, and providing technical direction on engineering deliverables.

The Chief Project Engineer leads engineering efforts to ensure project delivery, working closely with Rolls-Royce engineering leadership and NautIQ Solutions Engineering Team Leads. The role requires ownership and delivery of work packages in line with cost, quality, and schedule requirements, providing leadership and governance for the engineering team. This position reports to the NautIQ Solutions Chief Marine Engineer.

NautIQ Solutions specializes in low voltage distribution equipment for Naval applications and expanding DC Hybrid propulsion systems for the Commercial Marine market. The position will oversee all installed products on Naval and Commercial Marine platforms, including DREADNOUGHT.

Accountabilities
  • Assist the Chief Marine Engineer in managing product safety through compliant processes and lead closure strategies.
  • Create and maintain product requirements through interfaces with customers and business across the product lifecycle.
  • Define technical program of work ensuring full compliance and integration within the project structure.
  • Lead change management within engineering to control and incorporate changes effectively.
  • Establish and maintain governance structures to meet quality, schedule, and cost targets.
  • Implement risk management and review processes for the project, fostering continuous improvement.
  • Lead system engineering efforts and promote systems thinking within the team.
  • Manage the delivery of technical solutions satisfying all product requirements.
  • Represent the Chief Marine Engineer as needed.

  • Design/functional domain knowledge for oversight of engineering delivery.
  • Logical, analytical, and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with system engineering approaches and product lifecycle management.
