Job description

About RA

Founded in 2001, Resident Advisor (RA) is one of the world's longest-running music media brands and a cornerstone of the dance, electronic and DJ ecosystem. The site's audience of over 7 million monthly users is drawn in by a combination of news, editorial, club listings and ticketing, RA-branded events at venues and festivals worldwide, original films and a weekly mix series that has run for 20 years.

Purpose of the role

RA's platform is the product people experience: the RA Guide apps, ra.co, the tools promoters use to run their businesses, and the support that sits behind all of it, serving fans and promoters across more than 50 countries.

The Chief Platform Officer owns how that platform develops: what gets built, why, in what order, and the standard it needs to meet.

This is a product role rather than an engineering one. Engineering delivery, infrastructure, DevOps and technical architecture sit with the Chief Technical Officer. The Chief Technical Officer owns how it gets built and run. The two roles must work as a close partnership, and we will be looking for evidence that you can do that well.

We want an AI-native product leader: someone who treats AI as a fundamental change in how products get designed, built, tested, supported and operated, rather than as a feature category. RA is a small company, with just over 100 full-time staff and a large global surface area. The opportunity is to create real leverage through better products, sharper automation and modern ways of working.

You will own Product, Product Design, Data & Analytics, Platform Support and RA's AI operating model. The goal is a better product for the people who use RA and a better organisation for the people who work inside it. This is not an AI research role: success is measured in better products and a more capable company, not in novelty.

Key responsibilities
  • Own the product strategy and roadmap across RA's platform: the RA Guide apps on iOS and Android, ra.co, promoter and venue tools, Scanner and what comes next. Set clear priorities and sequencing so the company understands what is being built and why.
  • Set the standard for mobile as a first-class product environment. Mobile is where much of RA's audience experiences the platform, and where discovery, community and ticketing have the most room to develop.
  • Own RA's AI operating model: how AI is used across product development, support, data and company operations, and where it becomes part of the customer product itself. Set clear standards for responsible use, covering customer and promoter data, generated content and product design.
  • Own Customer and Promoter Support as part of the platform. Be accountable for service quality, and use what support sees to identify recurring product problems and opportunities for automation and self-service.
  • Make promoter self-service materially better. Work with Growth and Revenue on acquisition, onboarding and activation so more promoters succeed on RA without manual intervention.
We’re looking for
  • Comprehensive staff wellbeing initiatives, featuring regular activities and workplace programmes to support mental and physical health. This includes discounted ClassPass memberships and custom-fitted earplugs.
  • Company-led social events, team lunches, and discounts on RA merch.
  • Paid annual volunteering allowance, encouraging contributions to community projects and charities you care about.
  • Regular company-wide Q&A’s with senior leadership, along with ongoing virtual educational training sessions for all staff.
  • A transparent internal company culture committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (see: https://ra.co/about/diversity).
  • Active involvement in community projects within the electronic music community (see: https://ra.co/about/community).
