Job description

I am recruiting a Chief Operating Officer (COO) for a highly innovative, scale up technology driven organisation.

Our client is an award-winning digital platform created to improve the lives of children through the provision of better access to education and learning. They already have a successful suite of online educational products in circulation, with a wide range of new learning and data analysis products in their development pipeline.

This is a critical hire for my client; you will help fuel the organisation on its growth journey as they continue to professionalise and scale towards a potential exit.

Overview, you will:

  • Provide the operational backbone of the organisation, leading and managing core business functions including Operations (Product & Implementation), Sales & Marketing, and Finance & Administration.
  • Partner closely with the Founder & CEO, to focus on strategic market expansion and business growth.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all daily operational activities across Product, Implementation, Sales, Marketing, and Finance functions.
  • Help drive expansion into new markets with existing and future products. Support the evolution and execution of strategic marketing and sales initiatives.
  • Lead financial and business planning, manage P&L, and drive informed, data-based decisions.
  • Champion continuous improvement in operational systems and processes, enhancing efficiency and utilising automation where appropriate.
  • Foster a collaborative and professional culture aligned with the organisation’s mission and values.

Skills and experience required:

  • Proven operational leadership in a scaling technology driven / technology enabled environment.
  • Quantifiable evidence of the impact that you have had on the growth of a business i.e., “I did this…..,which resulted in that……”.
  • In-depth knowledge of diverse business functions (e.g. Sales & Marketing, Finance, Project Management etc.) and how best to lead and manage them.
  • Able to operate on a strategic level, experienced in driving organisational and cultural transformation, whilst demonstrating a hands-on approach.
  • Strong financial acumen, managing budgets, forecasting, and P&L accountability.
  • Experience of supporting a growth company through a sale will be of value but not essential.

Location:

  • Hybrid working model (able to travel to London and be home-based) with flexibility as required.
